<\/p>\nPune, June 5: Marking World Environment Day, MIT Art, Design and Technology (MIT-ADT) University planted more than 300 trees under the Government of India\u2019s national campaign \u2018Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam\u2019. The initiative was jointly organised by the University\u2019s Office of Student Welfare and the Maharashtra Academy of Naval Education and Training (MANET).<\/p>\n
The drive was conducted under the inspiration of Pro-Vice Chancellor and Executive President Prof. Dr. Mangesh Karad and Executive Director Prof. Dr. Sunita Karad, and under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rajesh S. Around 300 MANET cadets enthusiastically participated in the plantation activity. Various species, including Kanchan, Bahava (Golden Shower), Gulmohar and Palm trees, were planted across the university campus.<\/p>\n

Among those present on the occasion were Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nachiket Thakur, Director of Student Welfare Prof. Dr. Suraj Bhoyar, MANET Principal Capt. Prerit Mishra, Controller of Examinations Dr. Dnyandev Neelvarn, Principal of MIT School of Drama Dr. Amol Deshmukh, Director of Security and Vigilance Col. Prashant Waghmare, Deputy Registrar Dr. Hanumant Pawar, Assistant Director Dr. Pratibha Jagtap, along with officials and staff members from various departments.<\/p>\n
Organised as part of the university\u2019s decade-celebration year of academic excellence, the event focused not only on tree plantation but also on environmental awareness. Three short films produced by university students were screened during the programme. These included \u2018Prithvi Aapli, Jawabdarihi Aapli!\u2019 (Our Earth, Our Responsibility!), \u2018Bin It Right!\u2019 and \u2018Girimitra\u2019. The films delivered impactful messages on nature conservation, waste management and sustainable living.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Nachiket Thakur said, \u201cEnvironmental conservation is not a responsibility confined to a single day; it must become an integral part of our lifestyle. Such initiatives are essential for creating greener campuses and fostering environmental awareness among future generations.\u201d He added that the university would continue to undertake eco-friendly initiatives in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
