Mass Rejection of Voter ID Applications in Wagholi Due to Corruption & Mismanagement at Shirur Election Office

Pune, : WACO Welfare Association strongly condemns the ongoing systematic rejection of Voter ID applications submitted by residents of Wagholi. For the past 4–5 months, every Form 6 (New Voter) and Form 8 (Transfer/Correction) application has been redirected — without proper justification — to the Tahsil Office in Shirur (over 50 km from Wagholi) for physical document verification.
The Election Department, operating from Room No. 208, 2nd Floor, Shirur Tahsil Office, has rejected 100% of the applications where residents could not appear in person, despite genuine submissions. This points to serious mismanagement and potential corruption, effectively denying citizens their constitutional right to vote.

Key Issues:
Mass Rejections: All voter ID applications from Wagholi are being dismissed under one-sided procedures.
Unjustified Verification Process: Mandatory in-person appearance at a remote office is impractical and discriminatory.
Violation of Rights: Hundreds of citizens, including youth, women, and senior citizens, are being systematically excluded from the electoral roll.

Our Demands:
1. Immediate inquiry into the irregularities at the Shirur Election Department.
2. Establishment of a local verification facility in Wagholi.
3. Provision for video call or digital verification options to promote transparency and accessibility.
4. Reconsideration and reinstatement of unfairly rejected applications.
